5 Reasons Why the Custom 1970 Camaro is a Show Stopper

1970-Chevrolet-CamaroIt’s been a while since the Custom 1970 Camaro was unveiled at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas but apparently this resto-mod concept still makes waves up to this very day. It’s safe to say that it was a certified head turner at the event and its charm still manages to capture hearts. Why? We’ve got 5 reasons. Scroll down and read on to discover what they are.

#1: It’s the perfect marriage of old meets new.

Vintage meets new is what the Custom 1970 Camaro embodies. The classic vehicle was fitted with the most advanced upgrades of our time making it the perfect juxtaposition of then and now.

#2: It’s truly a visual treat both inside and out.

The closed two-door car body style with a permanently attached fixed roof was a classic feature of the 1970 Camaro. To give it a modern flare, it was given a hyper blue metallic finish, white rally stripes and LED headlights and taillights. Inside, the custom trimmed leather seats were reminiscent of a Gen 3 Camaro that were re-trimmed to size. The instrument panel with fully updated gauges also came wrapped in the same custom leather.

#3: It’s got quite the power to keep your adrenaline pumping.

The vehicle came with the infamous LT4 crate engine, General Motor’s most powerful to date. It pumps up 650 horsepower and a 650 pound-feet of torque. The 6.2 liter supercharged V8 has also been upgraded with aluminum cylinder heads, titanium intake valves and forged aluminum pistons to handle the additional force. For optimum stopping power, Corvette Z06-based disc brakes had to be installed as well as a six-point roll cage and custom gauges. It was also given a T-56 Super Magnum six-speed manual transmission, a wet-sump kit and an engine controller for manual transmission applications. It’ll send any car aficionado and speed lover into a frenzy.

#4: It managed to perfectly capture the brand’s agenda.

In an official press release statement, Jim Campbell, Chevrolet USA’s Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, said that the brand aims to endlessly fuel the dreams of enthusiasts with endless possibilities be it in “a classic resto-mod concept Camaro, a vintage truck or street rod”. This was in full display in the personification of the Custom 1970 Camaro.

#5: It’s simply unlike any other.

Nothing quite compares to the Custom 1970 Camaro. From the matrimony of classic and modern to its powerful engine and striking visuals, it’s definitely difficult to find something that will exceed or let alone match its beauty. It’s one of a kind.

How Macho is the Custom 1970 Camaro

Custom-1970-Chevy-Camaro-RS-SEMA-2015When we say macho, we mean jam-packed muscle and masculinity and no other car can live up to this standards save for the Custom 1970 Camaro. It’s a fitting adjective for it, an exclusive one if you ask us.

First revealed at the 2015 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, the vehicle was a special resto-mod concept from Chevrolet. Described as the perfect marriage of classic and tech, it’s an ode to the golden age of muscle cars but with the dexterity that the new age has to offer.

As Jim Campbell, Chevrolet USA’s Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, puts it: “the brand aims to endlessly fuel the dreams of enthusiasts with endless possibilities be it in a classic resto-mod concept Camaro, a vintage truck or street rod”.

And fuel it they did. The Custom 1970 Camaro wowed with its hyper blue metallic finish. The white rally stripes on the body add up to its graphic charms. Even the interiors were given a posh upscale. The black stock cabin features custom-trimmed leather seats which were reminiscent of a third-generation Camaro. The same finish was given to the instrumental panel for a cohesive and streamlined look. It was a sight to behold. It even had LED headlights and taillights for that contemporary appeal.

But apart from exciting the eyes, the vehicle boasts of quite a performance. The two-door coupe muscle car was fitted with General Motor’s most powerful engine to date: the LT4 crate engine. With its 650 horsepower, a 650 pound-feet of torque and a top speed of 155 mph, it’s quite a monster machine. With such amount of power, Chevrolet had to add Corvette Z06-based front and rear disc brake kits at both ends of the coupe behind the aluminum wheels to ensure maximum stopping power and safety. Truly, any car aficionado would drop to their knees.

For good measure, the Custom 1970 Camaro also came with a T-56 Super Magnum six-speed manual gearbox, aluminum cylinder heads, aluminum pistons, titanium intake valves, a four-link setup, overhauled suspensions, a wet-sump kit, a custom instrument cluster that comes with new gauges to work perfectly with the powertrain’s electronic systems, complementing air conditioning and front-end accessory drive kits.

Will all that said, the Custom 1970 Camaro is no doubt the definition of macho. Such are its charms and undeniable appeal that it favors the taste of pretty much everyone, male and female alike of any age. Besides, what more could you ask for?
